The movie, whose title means 'the joke' is a Czechoslovakian movie. It was adapted from the novel with the same title by Milan Kundera. According to Žižek, Zert is the only good novel by Milan Kundera, which is why the movie is also pretty good.
'Why do I love this movie? Because I am simply a great fan of Dickens.' This movie was adapted from the Charles Dickens novel with the same title.
Italian director, Roberto Rossellini also earns a place in Žižek's list thanks to his history movies. Žižek' thinks that The Age of the Medici (1973), Cartesius (1974), Blaise Pascal (1972) are among the best history movies.
He also states that he is especially interested in Denmark and all the movies of the Danish director, Carl Theodor Dreyer'. Getrud is one of them, too.
