Six, eight, or 12 years after the end of the Civil War, the western is about a group of strangers who take refuge in a mountain lodge to escape a blizzard and realize that secret allegiances threaten their survival. In The Hateful Eight, a stagecoach drives through cold winter Wyoming. The passengers, hangman John Ruth, and his captured fugitive Daisy Domergue rush to the town of Red Rock, where Ruth is known as 'The Executioner', to bring Domergue to justice. Along the way, they meet two strangers: Major Marquis Warren, a black ex-federation soldier who is a notorious bounty hunter, and the other, southern outlaw Chris Mannix, who claims to be the town's sheriff. Lost in the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren, and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a mountain pass inn. When they arrive at Minnie's, they are greeted by four strangers, not the owner: Bob, Red Rock hangman Oswaldo Mobray, Cowboy Joe Gage, and Allied Sanford Smithers, who watch over Minnie's while Minnie visits her mother. As the storm overwhelms the mountain accommodation, our eight travelers learn that they may never reach Red Rock. The script for veteran director Quentin Tarantino's latest project, 'The Hateful Eight', was canceled by Tarantino after it leaked online. However, the film, which was later decided to be shot, stars Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, Michael Madsen, and Tim Roth. The film is executive produced by Harvey Weinstein, Bob Weinstein, and Georgia Kacandes, with co-producers by Coco Francini and William Paul Clark.
