Had humans existed for thousands of years, the concept of evil would exist. The world has witnessed several tragedies in all shapes, from murders to genocides, but the real evil lies in those who cause them. These men acted crimes that not even a single word could describe how unforgivable they were.
Here are 15 of the evilest people in history and their gruesome crimes exposed:
Ioseb Besarionis dze Jughashvili, better known as Joseph Stalin, was a Georgian dictator of the Soviet Union from 1922 until he died in 1953. For around 30 years, his dictatorship led to a scarcity that killed millions of Russians. He even ordered the killing of families that were fond of him.
Under the cruel decades of his dictatorship, his soldiers raped more than 1.5 million German women and ultimately killed 20 million people. His cause of death was a stroke.
The novel Dracula was loosely based on Vlad III. During Vlad’s reign, his sadistic personality and gruesome actions led to the murdering of 20% of Wallachia’s population during 1448-1462.
He ordered the impaling of victims through their buttocks till the stake came out of the mouth.
Ivan IV Vasilyevich was the first Tsar of Russia. During his childhood, he threw animals off tall structures. Despite his intelligence, he had mood swings due to a mental illness; during a mood swing, he killed his heir to the throne.
Ivan the Terrible loved impaling, frying, disemboweling, and beheading people. In the Novgorod Massacre, over 60,000 people were tortured to death. Ivan died while playing chess.
When Leopold was king, he ruled over the Congo Free State, which was way bigger than Belgium. He deceived the world that he was going to help Congo but ended up killing 500,000 due to diseases and starvation. 50% of the population of Congo was also wiped out to gain money and power.
Kim Jong-Sung was North Korea’s first dictator from 1948-1972. He started the Korean war, resulting in the death of three million. His son, Kim Jong-il, continued the Kim family’s reign shortly after the original dictator. Kim Jong-un is the incumbent dictator leading North Korea.
Their dictatorship for 70 years has caused millions of deaths due to famine, starvation, execution, and torture.
Genghis Khan was the founder and first Great Khan of the Mongol Empire from 1206 to 1227. His bloodthirsty ideology led to victories and killed 20 to 60 million people during his reign. His army murdered 15 million people on the Iranian plateau.
His cause of death remains mysterious.
Mao Zedong was a Chinese dictator from 1943-1976. He aspired to make China powerful; in the process, however, he committed the most significant genocide recorded. His ruthless actions resulted in the loss of 40 to 70 million lives through forced labor, executions, and starvation. Ironically, Mao himself died of illness.
Maximilien Robespierre was the planner of the French revolution. Ever since he was young, he aspired for a better life for the French. However, his positive desire resulted in terror leadership that led to the guillotining of 40,000 people within ten months, and he believed killing is always better than forgiving.
His attack on Vendée cost 100,000 lives. He died when beheaded by a guillotine.
Ferdinand Marcos Sr. was a Filipino politician who came into the presidency from 1965 to 1989, making him the longest president in the Philippines. On September 21, 1972, Marcos declared the Philippines under martial law.
During his dictatorship, he suspended the writ of habeas corpus and defrayed his last term in the 1935 Constitution, making him preside for over 20 years.
His term consisted of 3,000 extrajudicial killings, 35,000 tortures, and 70,000 incarcerated. Out of the 3,000, 77% of the victims were salvaged—dumped on a roadside for public display.
Adolf Hitler was a German dictator and chancellor who took the title of Führer und Reichskanzler in 1944. His actions resulted in over 16 million deaths, most of which were Jews. He believed Jews were the problem of everything, resulting in the Holocaust, which made him expel all Jews.
Saddam Hussein was the dictator of Iraq from 1979 to 2003. During Hussein’s dictatorship, he ordered chemical attacks, eye gouging, beatings, and severe shocks on people that cost two million lives.
His sadistic nature even urged him to film the killings of victims to watch later. He was found guilty and hanged in 2006.
Heinrich Himmler was the head of the Schutzstaffel and the mastermind behind the Final Solution, which was the extermination of all Jews on the European continent. Himmler ordered the killing of over six million Jews and many groups the Nazis believed to be unworthy of living.
It is rumored that he had furniture made from the bones and skins of his victims. He died by committing suicide.
Pol Pot was the leader of the Khmer Rogue, which staged the Cambodian genocide. Pol Pot believed that he could start a new regime and lead in a new age by killing Cambodians. His policies led to the loss of 25% of Cambodia’s population.
He was fond of keeping his victims’ skulls and ordered babies to be torn limb by limb. He died of natural causes.
Idi Amin was the Chief of Army Staff that took over Uganda while their president had gone to Singapore for a meeting. He promised prosperity, but a week later, he was the self-proclaimed president of Uganda.
He killed people by feeding them to animals, claimed he was a cannibal, mutilated one of his wives, and rearranged her limbs. His actions led to the murder of half a million people between 1971 to 1979 as a dictator.
Osama Bin Laden was a Saudi Arabian militant who was the mastermind behind the 9-11 attacks and the founder of al-Qaeda. His attacks traumatized the world, and many countries expressed their gratitude as America grieved in anger.
The United States Navy SEALs of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group shot him in 2011 in his compound in Pakistan.
