'Refugiado' is set to release on March 11th 2022 on Netflix.
A trailer for 'Refugiado' has already been dropped by Netflix on Youtube along with the announcement of the release date.
'Refugiado' follows Laura (Julieta Diaz), the mother of a small child named Matias (Sebastian Molinaro), who is walking home from school one day when he discovers her beaten up on the kitchen floor.
Laura is escorted to a refuge for mistreated women, with Matias monitoring her every step. She is clearly a victim of regular domestic violence (perpetrated by a spouse who appears in the film largely as an invisible danger).
When the woman eventually decides to end her relationship with her abusive spouse, she enlists Matias' help in leaving the father, who proves both dangerous and deceptive in his persistent phone calls and dogged pursuit.
Matias is pretty much on his own as his mother recovers from her injuries, exploring the nooks and crannies of the shelter building and making brief acquaintances with other youngsters and some of the adults.
The film more than lives up to its title, depicting the mother and youngster in a perpetual state of shelter and transition, with Lerman gradually revealing how perilous life becomes for the young boy.
The cast includes Julieta Díaz, Sebastián Molinaro, Marta Lubos, Valentina García Guerrero, Silvia Baylé, Sofía Palomino, Agustín Rittano, Sandra Villan, andi Carina Resnisky among others.
