The factory in the city provides employment for 43 people. The Food, Beverage, and Catering Union (NGG) has vehemently opposed the layoffs. In a statement from the NGG, it was noted that the closure was announced less than three months ago, adding, 'We call on Cargill to come to its senses and sit down to negotiate with the workers' council. The company does not care about the welfare of its employees.'
