The first season finale aired on April 12th, 2022, after entering halfway through the traditional broadcast cycle in late 2021. Quinta Brunson may have started in web series, but now she officially shows herself as a TV comedy lead with great creative direction.

Quinta Brunson created this comedy series, starring as a second-grade teacher at a Philadelphia public school that suffers from underfunding and an incompetent principal. Though life is tough for the caring staff members of the school, the teachers are determined against all odds to give their students the best lives possible.

  • Chris Perfetti - History Teacher Jacob

  • Reggie Hayes - Superintendent Denzel

While few would say this new show is genuinely perfect, Abbott Elementary’s first season currently holds the honor of having a Rotten Tomatoes score of 100%. The mockumentary approach is certainly tried-and-true, but reviewers were still impressed at the way this ABC show humorously satirizes the U.S. education system. Characters, writing, and difficult scenarios spun into uplifting humor blend effortlessly for a pleasant entry into the workplace comedy format. Though Abbott Elementary never tries to be anything revolutionary, critics saw great potential in the series to develop into something special in future seasons. New episodes should not take long to see the light of day since ABC has renewed the show for a second season.
