A$AP Rocky Arrested Upon Arrival In Los Angeles

Allegedly in connection to a shooting from late last year, police arrested and charged rapper A$AP Rocky (Rakim Mayers) on April 20th, 2022. The Los Angeles Police Department picked him up as soon as he got off a private plane at LAX. Fresh off his last run-in with Swedish authorities a few years ago (and a strange ploy from then-president Donald Trump to intervene in the matter), Mayers faces this new charge just before some festival dates this summer. Whether those performances will be affected by this arrest remains to be seen.

The victim told police that A$AP Rocky and two other men ran on foot after firing a few shots, one of which grazed his hand. In some reports, the victim claims it followed some sort of argument, the details of which are not known.

The Charges

Mayers faces a felony offense of assault with a deadly weapon, which if sentenced means he could spend up to four years in jail and face a fine of $10,000. His next court date is August 17th.

After his charge, Mayers was released on bail and is now with his pregnant girlfriend, fashion designer Rihanna. From paparazzi photos, it appears that the couple is outwardly unfazed. Rihanna has said she remains focused on the pregnancy, which one can speculate will happen before Mayers' court date.

This year, A$AP Rocky is set to appear at some international festivals, the closest to his home being Osheaga in Montreal.
