The British Fashion Awards in London once again turned into a star-studded event this year!

At last night’s ceremony, which celebrated the best in the fashion world, the Model of the Year award was won by a transgender individual for the first time ever!

The Model of the Year award went to American star Alex Consani!

The 21-year-old, who stands 1.83 meters tall, began her modeling career in 2015. Consani has captured attention with her signature hair and eyebrows.

Alex Consani was also the first transgender person to ever walk the runway in fashion show history!

Most recently, she graced the runway at the 2024 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

At the British Fashion Awards ceremony, Alex Consani wore a dress designed by Turkish-British designer Dilara Fındıkoğlu.

Her striking dress, featuring a ripped United Kingdom flag design, garnered significant attention during her acceptance speech.

Other nominees for Model of the Year included Mona Tougaard, a Danish-Turkish model of Somali-Ethiopian descent.

The British Fashion Council (BFC) stated that the Model of the Year award recognizes "the global impact of a model who has dominated the industry in the past 12 months."

The council further highlighted that the winner 'has made an extraordinary contribution to the industry, extending their influence beyond the runway, and has been featured in numerous editorial and advertising campaigns throughout the year.'

Consani described the council's decision as "a big step in the right direction.''
