Anime Series Adaptation of Classic Manga ‘Spriggan’ is Heading to Netflix in June 2022 - Release Date and Everything We Know so Far

Spriggan is an upcoming Netflix Original Japanese sci-fi anime series and adaptation of the classical manga created by Hiroshi Takashige and illustrated by Ryōji Minagawa. The manga ran for 11 volumes and was initially published in Weekly Shnen Sunday in February 1989, then in Shnen Sunday Zkan from 1992 to 1996. It was most recently adapted into a film in 1998, directed by Katsuhiro Otomo.

Subsequent to the manga's debut in the 1990s, Studio 4°C produced a feature-length film, which was released by Toho Animation in 1998. The film was followed by a computer game called Spriggan: Lunar Verse in 1999, which apparently grossed over 350 million Yen at the Japanese box office (around $2.5 million in today's money).
