Apple TV+ Introduces A New Comedy Series Starring Jason Segel: ‘Shrinking’

From the creative minds of Scrubs and Ted Lasso comes another comedy series Shrinking slated to head straight to Apple TV+. 

Shrinking stars comedy drama legends, including How I Met Your Mother's Jason Segel, who takes the lead role in the series, and the great Harrison Ford.

The platform dropped the show's teaser video a day ago, introducing some cast members, including Segel, Michael Urie, Christina Miller, Harrison Ford, Lukita Maxwell, Luke Tennie, Tilky Jones and Jessica Williams.

A dad and therapist, Jimmy, mourns the loss of his wife. As a result, he makes changes to his profession, including telling it straight to his patients, breaking the rules of his training, and leading to an impact on his life and others.

Segel plays the lead character Jimmy Johns, Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones) plays Dr Phil Rhodes, Christ Miller (Scrubs) plays Liz, and Michael Urie (Ugly Betty) is Brian. 

They are joined by Jessica Williams (Fantastic Beasts) as Gaby, Take 5’s Tilky Jones as Donny, Lukita Maxwell (Generation) as Alice and Luke Tennie (Deadly Class) as Sean.

Jason Segel co-producers Shrinking alongside Bill Lawrence and Brett Goldstein, with James Ponsoldt serving as the director and also an executive producer. Shrinking is a creation of Doozer Productions and Warner Bros Television for Apple TV+.

The 10-part series sets to debut the first two episodes on Apple TV+ on January 27 2023, followed by a weekly episode release every Friday after then.

Jason Segel got his TV breakthrough with the highly acclaimed but short-lived teen series Freaks and Geeks (1999), starring alongside Linda Cardellini, James Franco, Seth Rogen, and Busy Phillips among others. Thereafter, his fame accelerated propelled by the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014), joined by Josh Radnor, Neil Patrick Harris, Alyson Hannigan and Cobie Smulders. 

The 42-year-old actor has written, starred in and produced several films and blockbusters including Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008), I Love You, Man (2009), Knocked Up (2007), The Five Year Engagement (2012), Our Friend (2020), The End of the Tour (2015), Sex Tape (2014), Jeff, Who Lives at Home (2011), Dispatches from Everywhere (2020), Windfall (2022) just to name a few.
