"It’s so funny because I’ve explained this a million times, but people still ask, ‘Where’s your real voice?’" she said during her recent appearance on the SmartLess podcast.
Responding to claims that her voice 'doesn’t sound natural' in interviews, Ariana explained that when she has a busy press day or needs to sing, she 'adjusts her voice slightly.'
"This surprises people, but if you use your voice all the time, you know exactly what this is," she added.
She clarified, 'I change my vocal tone to protect my voice,' describing this technique as 'a way to keep my voice healthy.'She explained that it’s essentially 'just slightly lightening the tone,' which is completely normal for vocalists.
'But people say, ‘That’s not her real voice.’ And I’m like, ‘It actually is—it’s just a little bit higher. It’s all completely natural,’' she said.
