Coming Soon! The Drama Thriller Film ‘The Forgiven’ Starring Ralph Fiennes and Jessica Chastain

The drama thriller movie The Forgiven, starring Academy Award nominee Ralph Fiennes alongside Academy Award winner Jessica Chastain is in the pipeline for debut later this year. It is scheduled to premiere in the U.S. on July 1 2022, by Vertical Entertainment and Roadside Attraction and in the U.K. on August 26 2022, by Focus Features.

The film is directed and written by John Michael McDonagh and based on Laurence Osborne's 2012 novel of the same title.

The Forgiven follows a well-to-do couple David Henniger (Ralph Fiennes) and Jo Henniger (Jessica Chastain), on the brink of divorce, driving to Morocco for a vacay in an attempt to salvage their marriage. Their road trip takes a toll when they accidentally hit and kill a young trader.

As a result, the couple separates to deal with their actions and find themselves coming to terms with their respective flaws- David with his selfishness and inconceivable prejudice and Jo with her insufferable submissiveness and suppression.

The two leading casts are joined by Matt Smith as Richard Galloway, Caleb Landry Jones as Dally Margolis, Said Taghmaoui as Anouar, Christopher Abbott as Tom Day, Ismael Kanater as Abdellah Taheri, Mourad Zaoui as Hamid, Abbey Lee as Cody, Alex Jennings as Lord Swanthorne and Marie-Josée Croze as Isabelle Péret.

The Forgiven made its world premiere on September 11 2021, at the Toronto International Film Festival; therefore it's been around long enough to obtain ratings and reviews. The film rates at 6.5/10 on IMDb, 67% on Metacritic and 72% on Rotten Tomatoes. Though garnished with mixed critic reviews, the movie gloats its satirical nature, making for a great watch.

Though The Forgiven has no streaming offers yet, I'm sure it'll be up for streaming soon enough. We'll keep you posted.
