David Gilmour, the founding guitarist and leader of Pink Floyd since 1985, followed other musicians and music institutions around the world in disapproving of the 2022 actions of Putin and Russia. Gilmour accompanied his censure by removing his music from streaming services in Russia and Belarus.
The albums that Gilmour controls are limited, but he made his statement by removing what he could from Russian access. Aside from his solo albums, Gilmour successfully blocked streaming for the final Pink Floyd records released during his tenure as group leader. This output includes the last Pink Floyd studio albums, A Momentary Lapse of Reason (1987) and The Division Bell (1994), as well as The Endless River, the final collection of Pink Floyd material released in 2014.
Other releases during this time include Pink Floyd's live albums recorded on the 1988 and 1995 tours. These records are called Delicate Sound of Thunder and Pulse, respectively.
Pink Floyd's most famous albums are The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, which included vocals and bass from Roger Waters, who left the band in 1985. Because different contracts and separate sets of record labels distributed these and older Pink Floyd albums, Gilmour only dealt with the channels that controlled the music closely tied to his name.
