Didim is one of the most touristic districts of Aydin. Formerly known as Yenihisar, Didim is bordered to the east by Mugla province, Gulluk Bay and Akbuk Bay. Surrounded by the Aegean Sea to the west and south, this district is shaped like a peninsula bordered by Lake Bafa and Buyuk Menderes to the north. With an area of 402 square kilometres, the first settlements in Didim date back to the Neolithic Age. After the Battle of Malazgirt, Didim and its surroundings were captured by the Turks, and with the establishment of the Mentese Principality, it passed into the hands of this principality. Didim, which continued its existence during the Ottoman Empire under the names Yeronda and Yoran, has a very rich vegetation in terms of tobacco, olives and figs. There are also olive oil factories here. Fishing is an important source of livelihood in the district, where fish factories are also located. Didim's economy is positively affected by the increasing number of tourists in the summer months. Altinkum beach and the Temple of Apollo are extremely popular in the district. So, where is Didim?
