From a superhero to a captain to a scientist, Chris Hemsworth always brings his A-game to every role. This time, Hemsworth stars as a spooky scientist in the sci-fi thriller film Spiderhead that premieres on June 17 on Netflix.

The streaming platform dropped the film's official trailer yesterday, showcasing Hemsworth alongside Miles Teller, Jurnee Smollett, Tess Haubrich, and Charles Parnell, among other stars.

The YouTube synopsis reads, “Two inmates (Miles Teller and Jurnee Smollett) form a connection while grappling with their pasts in a state-of-the-art penitentiary run by a brilliant visionary (Chris Hemsworth) who experiments on his subjects with mind-altering drugs.'

Spiderhead is directed by Joseph Kosinski and written by Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

Based on the terrestrial short narrative “Escape from Spiderhead” by George Saunders, the movie set in the near future features medical convicts who are allowed to volunteer for medical experimentation to reduce their sentence.

Prison overseer Steve Abnestic (Chris Hemsworth) uses emotion-altering drugs on his subjects but inmate Jeff (Miles Teller), who comes to love another prisoner, Rachel (Jurnee Smollett), tries to find a way to rescue her.

Other cast members not mentioned above include Tess Haubrich as Heather, BeBe Bettencourt as Emma, Mark Paguio as Verlaine, Sam Delich as Adam, Joey Vieira as Miguel, Daniel Reader as Ryan, Ron Smyck as Dave, Stephen Tongun as Ray and Charles as Parnell as Knowles.

Hold your horses for the film's release date Friday, June 17.
