If you ask an Overwatch 2 player how their experience went during the aforementioned game’s first-week launch, you’d probably get some not-so-positive feedback. The gaming community, specifically fans and players of Activision Blizzard’s team-based first-person shooter video game, were not able to hide their disappointment towards the lackluster release of the game, which was marred with plenty and lengthy server problems along with game-breaking bugs.

Overwatch 2’s servers were the target of DDoS attacks not just once, but twice! The attacks forced Blizzard to shut down the servers completely for a while as they sorted out and repelled the attack on their servers. Of course, this was a huge disappointment for players of Overwatch, especially since they had to wait a day after the shutdown of Overwatch to be able to play in the newly-launched servers Overwatch 2, only for the servers to get easily attacked and render unavailable for almost all of the player base.
Moreover, game-breaking bugs involving Bastion and Torbjörn forced the company to remove the two heroes from the game temporarily. Bastion’s ultimate ability causes some serious bugs, prompting Blizzard to remove it from the game completely (at least temporarily). Similarly, Torbjörn ability’s also caused some annoying bugs, causing him to be removed in most game modes except Quick Play.
Fortunately, Activision Blizzard was able to fix the server problems and stabilize them so old fans and new players alike could start actually playing the game again. Moreover, the company has also decided to provide compensation for the players of the game in the form of boosted match XP yields plus a legendary skin for Reaper and a weapon charm. The Cursed Captain Reaper legendary skin will be available to players who log in starting the 25th of October until the end of the season. A Health Pack weapon charm will also be available for players who log in within this period.
The official announcement from Blizzard did not mention a specific time period for the double match XP bonus, but the company mentioned that it will run on multiple weekends.
