Elden Ring exploit puts players into endless death loops

An exploit in Elden Ring has been wreaking havoc on players, sending them into endless death loops and even corrupting their save files.

Almost every Soulsborne game had a feature that allowed other players to join your game and challenge you to a duel. Elden Ring is no exception, as potential hackers can join other players' sessions and potentially corrupt their save files.

This was discovered following the release of a large patch update from FromSoftware last week, which addressed weapon balancing and other issues. According to a tweet posted by EldenRingUpdate, the exploit triggers when the hacker uses a certain ability that activates a glitch and causes the player’s game to crash. When they load back up the game, their character falls to their death endlessly.

A possible fix for this exploit has been published by Reddit user 'Draiganedig,' but it is not guaranteed. Hitting ALT + F4 just before death will immediately close the game and give players enough time to login just before they die. After successfully launching the game, players must locate any sites of grace or else the infinite loop will restart.

Unfortunately, this is the only current effective fix; all other fixes are ineffective and may even introduce new bugs. Both FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have yet to comment on the situation, but developer FromSoftware will work hard to find a better, and hopefully permanent, solution to this exploit. For the time being, players are strongly advised to play offline and make backups of their save files in order to avoid this dangerous exploit.
