Elden Ring player crushes world record, finishing under 25 minutes

Elden Ring is an action role-playing video game that has a huge map which has immensely piqued the interest of competitive speedrunners. The game is said to take around 100 hours to complete, especially for those unfamiliar with the action RPG genre. Both experienced and prodigious players were said to be able to beat the game in half the time. However, the cream of the crop such as Distortion2 and LilAggy, can demolish it in under an hour.

With the latter completely shattering the game's speedrun records, one has just set the new world record, beating the game in under 25 minutes. Yes, you read that correctly: Hazeblade, the newly crowned speedrunning king, beat the game in under 25 minutes.

Here is the video of his amazing run below.

His speedrunning strategies, on the other hand, differ from those of most speedrunners. He uses the Warrior class rather than the Samurai class, which is the most commonly used class for speedrunning. Hazeblade utilizes a glitch known as 'The Zip,' which allows players to teleport around the map and even skip large portions of the game.

What's cool is that Hazeblade has never updated the game and is still on Patch 1.02, which means he can't take advantage of old glitches. FromSoftware released a patch to improve the game's balance by reducing glitches.

Speedrunner LilAggy told Eurogamer:

'On the bright side, pretty much all of the glitches we have been using to skip through the game are still working, so it's really just a matter of figuring out what the best thing to defeat the bosses with is now.'

As previously stated, Hazeblade is the current king of the speedrunners. No one knows when the king will be dethroned, but it appears that many speedrunners are still willing to try.
