Musk had previously approved the use of 'puberty-blocking' medications for his child. He stated that he was told his child might commit suicide, which led him to approve the use of these medications, ultimately claiming he was 'deceived.'

According to BBC, the law restricts the sharing of students' sexual identity information with their families. Additionally, Musk's child Vivian legally changed their name and gender on June 22, 2022. Vivian, who wished to distance themselves from their biological father, expressed a desire not to maintain any relationship with him and chose to use their mother’s surname.
