Everything to Know About FX's Upcoming Sci-fi Miniseries ‘Kindred’

For over 15 years now, FX has constantly maintained the loyalty of its wide fan base with incredible shows.

The network just unveiled an addition to its original projects with the first season of Kindred, a time-travel-based mini-series starring Mallori Johnson.

The series is an adaptation of Octavia E. Butler’s Hugo Award-winning novel of 1979 by the same name.

Kindred centres on a young Black woman, Dana James, who just shifted to L.A with her spouse, Kevin Franklin, to go deeper into her writing career. As she strives to settle down in her newly-found home, Dana suddenly starts to suffer from unexplainable dizziness, which pulls her back to the 19th century, where she discovers her family’s dark past.

In the 19th century, Dana meets her long-gone ancestors and suddenly can’t manage to travel across different times.

FX Networks recently shared the official trailer for Kindred season one via its main YouTube platform. For nearly two minutes, the trailer kicks off with Dana in deep breaths as she runs across the 19th-century plantation.

Simultaneously, modern-day Dana appears tensed while her husband strives to find out what could be the issue. From Dana’s ‘hallucinations,’ something seems wrong with her family’s past and may be more than what she imagined.

Kindred is chiefly produced by Janicza Bravo and Matthew Shire, Ernestine Walker, Amanda Marsalis, and Alonso Alvarez.

Branden J-Jenkins writes the show for FX Productions Company and Protozoa Pictures.

Kindred is full of talented actors, including the stars Mallori Johnson (Dana James), Micah Stock (Kevin Franklin), Gayle Kwanten (Margaret Weylin), Ryan Kwanten (Thomas Weylin), David A. Kaplan (Rufus Weylin), and Austin Smith (Luke).

Other characters are Drew Matthews (Charles), Brooke Bloom (Hermoine), Louis Cancelmi (Hernan), Charles Parnell (Alan), Britt Douyon (Verity), Cherrie McRae (Sabina), and Adam Bartley (Daniel). Charles Green, Norah Murphy, and Brian DeRozan will appear in the show as Preacher Howell, Temperance, and Cop, respectively.

Kindred will premiere on Tuesday, December 13th, with all eight episodes.

The show will be available for streaming on Hulu at $7.99 (ad-supported) and $14.99 (ad-less) monthly subscriptions.
