Recently, a flight attendant shared some of the most unusual complaints received from passengers on board.

In an interview with CNN, Heather Poole, a flight attendant with 28 years of experience, said that passengers frequently complain about malfunctioning entertainment systems, lack of Wi-Fi, and reclined seats. You might have encountered the 'Should the seat be reclined or not?' debate during flights, which often leads to disputes.

While passengers have the right to recline their seats, some find it uncomfortable.

Poole recounted an incident where a passenger punched the back of a reclined seat during a disagreement. 'Passengers can recline their seats whenever they want. There's nothing anyone can do about it.'

"If you kick the seat or threaten to punch someone, you'll be the one removed from the flight, not the person reclining their seat by two inches," Poole added.

She also mentioned that it’s considerate to recline your seat slowly and be mindful of laptops behind you to avoid crushing them. 'I think some passengers need to calm down. People have the right to recline their seats... No one needs permission to do so.'

However, you may need to keep your seat upright during takeoff, landing, and meal service.

Poole believes that passengers' anger is misdirected and that the real issue lies with airlines squeezing too many seats into flights.

Moreover, airlines might be making seats more uncomfortable to encourage passengers to spend more money.

A report even warned that reducing legroom and not providing enough space for evacuation could turn planes into death traps.

Reclining seats require more complex mechanisms to move the seat backs, leading to more issues when they break.

Without these extra mechanisms, seats are generally lighter, making the plane lighter and allowing for more seats or reduced fuel consumption.
