Get Ready for the 2nd Season of the Political Comedy Sitcom ‘Mr. Mayor’

Mr. Mayor adds laughter not derived in real politics, and it is back again for a 2nd season, having premiered on Tuesday, March 15 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.

Initially perceived as a spin-off of the series 30 Rock (2006), Mr Mayor radiates Tina Fey’s strong sense of humor as she is the show’s creator.

In the season's first episode, 'Move Fast and Break Things', Neil is eager to start working with his new innovation team. However, he gets sidelined when he takes his daughter Orly to DMV for her permit test. Tommy, Neil's chief strategist and Mikaela, Neil's chief of staff, are skittish about the innovation team's new presence and strive to keep Jayden, Neil's communications director, from being fired.

In the 2nd episode, 'Mayor Daddy', Mikaela finds out that her accolade for plateauing the homelessness curve was a deception. Meanwhile, Neil's over thrill for working with the I-team displeases his original staff. He, therefore, strives to make amends with his staff members.

Episode 2 will premiere on Tuesday, March 22 and thereafter, episode 3, 'Trampage' on Tuesday, March 29. Episode 4 'The Illusion of Choice' debuts on April 5, while episode 5 'Sister Cities' on April 12.

At the top of the Mr. Mayor season 2 cast list is, of course, the Emmy Award-winning actor Ted Danson who reprises his role as Neil Brener, the ignorant mayor of L.A. The Academy Award-winner Holly Hunter joins Danson as the stern Deputy Mayor Arpi Meskimen.

The other cast members are as follows: Vella Lovell as Mikaela Shaw, Mike Cabellon as Tommy Tomás, Kyla Kennedy as Orly Bremer and Bobby Moynihan as Jayden Kwapis.

Also, worth noting is the show’s holiday special episode ‘Mr. Mayor’s Magical L.A. Christmas’ that aired on December 15 last year. Governed by his love for giving gifts, Neil forces his staff to prepare an L.A. “Christmas Eve” as they wait for his ultimate gift.

In case you missed it, the special episode is available for streaming on Peacock for a premium subscription of $4.99 per month.

NBC dropped a humorous interview with Bobby Moynihan and the show’s first look of season 2 5 days ago. Enjoy!
