This time, we are excited to announce his recent film project, Oppenheimer, based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning novel American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin.
On Wednesday, February 23 2022, we got the first peek of the film as Cillian Murphy stars as Robert Oppenheimer. A grey photo of the star in a hat with a cigarette in his mouth started circulating the internet, which got us hyped.
Apart from Murphy, other cast members were revealed, and the film is star-studded, starting with Emily Blunt, followed by Robert Downey Jr. alongside Matt Damon. Other beloved stars appearing in the film include Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Dane DeHaan, Kenneth Branagh, Matthew Modine, Jack Quaid, Josh Hartnett and Alden Ehrenreich.
Robert Oppenheimer is the popular 'father of the atomic bomb.' He was a theoretical physicist known for his contribution towards the Manhattan Project at World War II, at developing the first nuclear bomb.
Oppenheimer is produced by Christopher Nolan, Charles Roven and Emma Thomas. It is co-produced by Atlas Entertainment and Syncopy Inc.
The movie has just begun shooting and is scheduled for a July 21, 2023, release, which is quite the wait, but worth it, I believe.
Meanwhile, Murphy reprises his role as the iconic Tobby Shelby in the historical drama series Peaky Blinders. The sixth and final season premiered late last month with the first episode “Black Day” dropping on Sunday, February 27 while the second will air on March 6.
Whether in as Oppenheimer or as Shelby, one thing we can agree on is that Murphy does look hot with a cigarette in his mouth 😉
