Known for his close ties to Donald Trump, FIFA President Gianni Infantino has established a new award dubbed the 'FIFA Peace Prize'. This accolade, often referred to as the Nobel Peace Prize of football, will be bestowed annually to individuals who have made significant contributions to peace and brought people together through their exceptional efforts.

The inaugural ceremony is set to take place on December 5th at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, coinciding with the World Cup draw. The high-profile event is anticipated to be graced by the presence of Trump himself.

He was expecting it from Nobel, but he might receive it from FIFA.

The Financial Times reported that Trump's attendance at the event has fueled speculation that he could be the first recipient of the award. The Guardian, on the other hand, pointed out that the timing of the award's announcement is striking, considering Trump's long-standing desire for the Nobel Peace Prize. During his presidency, Trump had campaigned vigorously for this award and had reacted strongly to the results.

This year, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado. Senior advisors in the White House, however, viewed the decision as a 'political maneuver'.

The relationship between Infantino and Trump is increasingly strengthening.

Moreover, FIFA has appointed Trump's daughter, Ivanka, to the board of a $100 million education project funded by sales of 2026 World Cup tickets.

During his visit to the White House, Infantino showered Trump with praises in front of the press prior to the 2026 World Cup. Handing the World Cup to Trump, Infantino stated, 'This is the trophy lifted by the victor of the FIFA World Cup. It's solely for the winners. You too are a winner, hence we brought the winner's trophy here.'
