A giant fish washed ashore in the Han Yunus region in the southern part of the Gaza Strip, attracting the attention of the local population. The fish was reported to be approximately 10 meters long and weighed 2 tons.
Local fishermen in Gaza noted that the size of the fish was extraordinary and that such an event had not occurred in years. The giant fish brought joy to the people of Gaza, especially the children.
Some sources suggested that the beached fish was a 'Mola Mola' (Ocean Sunfish), one of the largest bony fish species in the world.
However, Dr. Adi Barash, the Director General of the Israeli Sharks Civil Society Organization, stated that the fish that washed ashore was a whale shark.
