Now, Google plans to use small nuclear reactors to meet the energy demands of its AI data centers.

To achieve this, Google has signed an agreement with a company called Kairos Power. The plan is for the first reactor to be operational by 2030, with additional reactors coming online by 2035.

According to BBC News, the two companies have not yet disclosed the cost of the agreement or where the nuclear plants will be located.

Google’s Head of Energy and Climate, Michael Terrell, highlighted the increasing energy demands of AI technologies. Terrell noted that new sources of electricity are necessary to support AI's growth.

Terrell stated, 'This agreement allows us to accelerate new technologies to meet energy needs in a clean and reliable way and to open up the potential of AI to everyone.'
