The Gulf of Gökova lies in southwestern Turkey, between the Bodrum Peninsula and the Datça Peninsula. Located in the Aegean Sea, this gulf is one of the limited places that preserves its natural texture.
Amateur fishing, sunbathing, underwater diving, water skiing, windsurfing and recreational activities play an important role in the tourism of the Gulf of Gökova. Some conditions here have also enabled the development of yacht tourism.
Bodrum, Milas, Muğla, Ula, Marmaris and Datça settlements are located on the shores of the Gulf of Gökova. At the eastern end of this gulf lies Gökova. This is also a neighborhood of Ula. The Gulf of Gökova, with low hills to its north and south, is the southernmost example of the Aegean grabens that collapsed due to tectonism.
The typical Ria coastal type can be seen in the southeast of the Gulf. In the area where the river flows into the sea, there are semicircular bays separated from each other by peninsulas and these bays are of great importance for yacht tourism.
