The Golden Girls star was reported by TMZ to have passed away on New Year’s Eve 2021. The culprit was diagnosed to be a cerebrovascular block, better referred to medically as a stroke.
A stroke arises when the blood supply to the Brain is cut off for too long. And the possibility of that happening worsens with age. Sadly, Betty’s body had succumbed to the fatal condition due to her age.
Betty Marion White, born January 17, 1922, passed away in her home at age 99. Her long-time friend and agent Jeff Witjas had much to say when asked about her passing,
“Betty passed in her sleep peacefully without pain. To me, this is the most important thing and brings me comfort as her dear friend. Anything else is private to Betty.”
“Even though Betty was about to be 100, I thought she would live forever.”
Many condolences poured in from all parts of the world. They said she’d be terribly missed, but knowing that she died peacefully meant everything.
Intriguingly, some rumors started emerging that her death was tied to a COVID-19 booster shot. She had received the dosage three days earlier, but as her medical reports were all clear they ended up being false.
Jeff Witjas responded to those claims stating,
“She died of natural causes. Her death should not be politicized — that is not the life she lived.”
Betty never had children of her own, but she was stepmother to her late husband Allen Ludden’s three children. She never remarried after his passing. When asked why by Larry King, she responded;
“Once you’ve had the best, who needs the rest?”
