Ismail Ozdemir, the Deputy Chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), announced that they have submitted a proposal to the Parliament for university students to be exempt from Special Consumption Tax (SCT) when purchasing electronic devices. Ozdemir pointed out that the prices of technological devices have significantly increased, creating a financial burden on students and their families. According to the details of the proposal, higher education students who are citizens of Turkey, excluding open education students and those who have not reached the age of 26, will be exempt from SCT and VAT when purchasing smartphones, computers, and tablets for one-time use.
On the other hand, the proposal is under discussion in the Parliament. No decision has been made yet.
