Julia Garner, rapidly ascending as one of Hollywood's most sought-after talents, has landed the lead role in 'Weapons,' a horror film by New Line Cinema, spearheaded by Barbarian director Zach Cregger. Garner will star alongside Josh Brolin in this eagerly anticipated project.
'Weapons' is slated to commence filming in mid-May in Atlanta, marking a collaboration between Garner, Brolin, and Cregger. Written by Cregger himself, the script for 'Weapons' remains shrouded in secrecy, described as an interconnected, multi-story horror epic reminiscent of the ensemble-driven tone of Paul Thomas Anderson's 1999 masterpiece, 'Magnolia.'
This project also marks a reunion for the production team behind 'Barbarian.' Alongside Cregger, Roy Lee of Vertigo, and J.D. Lifshitz and Raphael Margules of BoulderLight Pictures are producing, with Vertigo's Miri Yoon also on board as a producer.
Garner rose to prominence with her Emmy-winning performance in Netflix's acclaimed crime drama 'Ozark.' Since then, she has been on a streak, securing prominent roles in major studio productions. She is currently in post-production for Paramount's psychological thriller 'Apartment 7A' and concurrently filming Blumhouse/Universal's 'Wolf Man' opposite Christopher Abbott, directed by Leigh Whannell in New Zealand.
