Netflix’s Reality TV ‘Bling Empire’ Spawns Spin-Off ‘Bling Empire: New York’

In October 2022, Netflix announced a soon-to-be-added show to its library, Bling Empire: New York, a spin-off of the famous reality TV series Bling Empire, starring Dorothy Wang. The original Bling Empire launched on Netflix in January 2021, focusing on wealthy Asian-American celebrities in LA.

Bling Empire attracted massive views across the globe, revealed through a 91% average Tomatometer and 5.8/10 stars on IMDb. The performance might be what trigged the creators to develop a New York version of the show.

The upcoming Netflix spin-off sees the shift of Bling Empire from Los Angeles to a more giant square, New York. Bling Empire: New York incorporates influencers, fashionistas, millionaires, and other celebrities from New York in the race for the heaviest bank accounts and power.

As fans wait to discover if there will be a fourth season of Bling Empire or not, they can, in the meantime, hold on to Dorothy Wang and her fellow ‘crazy rich Asians’ based in New York City.

Yes! Netflix shared the official clip for Bling Empire: New York roughly four weeks ago after dropping its teaser in October 2022.

The trailer lasts 1 minute and 23 seconds, with a glimpse of Dorothy Wang across the streets of New York City. We shall see what the star has for us when the show officially debuts.

Bling Empire: New York is chiefly produced by Jeff Jenkins under his production company, Jeff Jenkins Productions, based in California.

Other chief producers are Reinout Oerlemans, Ross Weintraub, Lenid Rolov, Elise Chung, and Russell J-Staglik.

The Bling Empire spin-off presents Dorothy Wang (lastborn daughter of Roger Wang, a  Chinese-American businessman), Richard Chang (a top manager at Hudson Medical and Wellness), Deborah Hung and Stephen Hung (a wealthy Chinese-American couple), Lynn Ban (a jewelry designer), Blake Abbie (a fashion editor), and Tina Leung (a movie star and influencer).

The first season of Bling Empire: New York debuts on Friday, January 20, 2023, with eight 35-minute episodes.

Fans can catch up with the original story, Bling Empire, on Netflix at $9.99, $15.49, and $19.99 for basic, standard, and premium plans.
