Pinegrove’s 2020 record Marigold came out right before the pandemic started, so this new album is the first time this introspective indie group has reflected on the last two years of current events. And boy, does 11:11 reflect! More than that, it takes major lyrical jabs at environmental concerns and the government inaction that perpetuates them. Despite this vigor in the lyrics, the music is mostly more of the same from four past releases, but previous fans especially should be enthralled by singer-songwriter Evan Stephens Hall’s work on 11:11.
