It has come to light that Zohran Mamdani, the newly elected mayor of New York, is one of the shareholders of Real Oviedo, a team from Spain's La Liga.
At 34, Mamdani, who has been the youngest mayor of the city since 1892, had previously disclosed that he bought a share from the team, known for nurturing players like Michu and Santi Cazorla, back in 2012.
A post made by Mamdani in 2012 on X (formerly known as Twitter) has resurfaced. In that post, he stated, 'Just bought a share, I'm probably the first Oviedo shareholder living in Maine.'
Following the post going viral once again, the club responded with the message: 'Congratulations on your victory. New York has now taken on a much more Oviedo blue hue.'
