Paramount+ Orders A Second Season of ‘Criminal Minds: Evolution’

Paramount+ recently ordered another season of its thriller and procedural crime drama, Criminal Minds: Evolution.

The renewal news comes nearly two months after the streaming platform launched the show's first season with ten great episodes.

Criminal Minds: Evolution is a franchisee of the original Criminal Minds series, which launched on CBS in September 2005 and ran for fifteen seasons on the broadcast network.

The reboot began production at Paramount+ in February 2021, acquiring an entire season order in July 2022. Season one of Criminal Minds: Evolution began filming in August 2022 and premiered on November 24, 2022.

Criminal Minds: Evolution was initially thought to be the sixteenth season of Criminal Minds before it was announced as a revival and continuation show.

The crime investigatory show has managed an impressive score of 4/5 stars on Common Sense Media and an 83% Tomatometer on Rotten Tomatoes (supported by a 73% audience score).

Criminal Minds: Evolution welcomes back the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) team as a continuation of 2020's Criminal Minds season finale.

The team tackles a group of serial killers developed over the 2020-2021 COVID-19 pandemic. Season one, which is ongoing, has the BAU crew hunting down a serial killer at a time.

Criminal Minds: Evolution is chiefly produced by Erica Messer, Mark Gordon, Breen Frazier, Glenn Kershaw, and Christopher Barbour with The Mark Gordon Company, CBS Studios and ABC Signature.

Hopefully, many actors from the season will return for the second season, although no confirmation has been made. Criminal Minds: Evolution season one had Adam Rodriguez, Aisha Tyler, Joe Mantegna, Zach Gilford, Paget Brewster, A.J. Cook, and Kirsten Vangsness.

The Executive Programming Officer of Paramount Streaming, Tanya Giles, expressed her joy regarding Criminal Minds: Evolution's renewal in a statement, 'We're delighted to present more twisted plotlines to your esteemed fans of Criminal Minds: Evolution with the renewal of another season.'

'The show has consistently performed excellently on Paramount+, and fans have already loved the upcoming season for its serialized elements. We expect darker turns and twists from the BAU and cannot wait for fans to see what the season has in store for them,' she finalized.

Criminal Minds: Evolution's verified Twitter account also shared the renewal news three days ago with a 'Renewed' poster accompanied by a 'Wheels up…AGAIN' caption.
