r/place is a collective project and social experiment conducted on the social network Reddit. The first experiment was carried out on April Fool's Day, 1st April 2017. After the first experiment in 2017, it was repeated for the second time on April Fool's Day, 2022, and for the third time on 20 July 2023.
Normally organized every five years, r/place had surprisingly kicked off this year as well, following the previous year's event. Open to every Reddit user, the event provides a blank canvas and the ability to place a pixel every five minutes. With the organization of the users, astonishing masterpieces and landscapes reflecting the language of the internet emerge. The canvas, bearing the marks of different communities, kept changing actively over time. So, there were many artworks that emerged on the first day of the event but couldn't survive until the last day and had to make way for others.
