Rundown of ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2: Another Successful Collection of Adventures

A new Obi-Wan Kenobi show and a Cassian Andor show premiere on Disney+ in 2022, and a new season of The Mandalorian should be around sometime soon as well. For a refresh on where things left off in an exciting Mandalorian Season 2, here’s a quick rundown!

Episode 9 - “The Marshal"

Directed by: Jon Favreau

As the Mandalorian Din Djardin ventures in search of the proper place for the Child, he goes back to Tatooine to look for another Mandalorian. He finds the sheriff of a local town clothed in Mandalorian armor and offers to help save the town from a terrible creature.

Episode 10 - “The Passenger"

Directed by: Peyton Reed

In exchange for information on other Mandalorians, our heroic character transports an alien mother while avoiding New Republic ships and scary creatures on an icy planet.

Episode 11 - “The Heiress"

Directed by: Bryce Dallas Howard

Finally catching up to some more Mandalorians, they may know where the Child belongs. Our Mandalorian helps them take down some Empire fragments that may be tied to Moff Gideon (who last appeared in the Season 1 finale).

Episode 12 - “The Siege"

Directed by: Carl Weathers

Going back to Nevarro for repairs, the Mandalorian joins with his old pals Greef Karga and Cara Dune for an assault on an old Imperial base, the contents of which confirm that Moff Gideon is still alive.

Episode 13 - “The Jedi"

Directed by: Dave Filoni

Following a tip from the Mandalorians in “The Heiress,” the Mandalorian brings the Child to the Jedi Ahsoka Tano, where he learns what may lie ahead for the destiny of the Child, as well as his name!

Episode 14 - “The Tragedy"

Directed by: Robert Rodriguez

Ahsoka Tano tells the Mandalorian about an old temple that might connect Grogu (the Child) to a Jedi willing to train him. After a confrontation with stormtroopers, mysterious Dark Troopers, and… the return of Boba Fett(!)… the Mandalorian gains allies but loses the Child to the Imperial forces.

Episode 15 - “The Believer"

Directed by: Rick Famuyiwa

To figure out the location of Moff Gideon’s ship, the Mandalorian’s allies spring an ex-Imperial character last seen in “The Gunslinger” from New Republic imprisonment to help infiltrate an Imperial facility and access a location terminal.

Episode 16 - “The Rescue"

Directed by: Peyton Reed

A daring rescue for the Child! Epic battles, thrilling drama, and a surprise cameo await us in the Season 2 finale!

The second season may not be quite as fresh as the first, but more of the same is not necessarily bad for fans of the debut season. There are a couple of really inspired moments and a clearer throughline amid what are otherwise more isolated adventures in every episode, but this continuation leads us to great potential avenues that open limitless possibilities for Season 3. Exactly which pathway they choose remains to be seen, but the appearance of Jedi already makes new episodes reminiscent of the classic Star Wars we love.
