Bridgerton season 1 is the biggest series Netflix has ever made with it recording the most hours viewed within the first 28 days of release beating out the likes of Stranger Things and The Witcher.
Now, the series is finally returning, continuing to adapt Julia Quinn novels with Chris Van Dusen at the helm.
Netflix announced on January 21, 2021 that Bridgerton had been renewed for a second season. The streaming giant confirmed Bridgerton season two will premiere on March 25, 2022. The good news for Bridgerton fans is that there will be at least two more seasons and a spin-off after March. Seasons 3 and 4 of the show have also been renewed, though neither has begun filming yet.
The first trailer arrived on Monday, February 14, 2022. Just in time for Valentine’s Day, Netflix dropped the first trailer for the series as well as a new poster.
Bridgerton is based on a Julia Quinn book series, and season 2 will follow Anthony's search for love, just as season 1 did with Daphne and Simon, the protagonists of The Duke and I. Because Anthony has been spurned by his past sweetheart, opera singer Siena (Sabrina Bartlett), he believes he should marry for duty rather than love, and refuses to marry someone he truly loves. He picks Edwina Sheffield as his wife in the second novel in the series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, but Kate Sheffield intervenes to save her younger sister from marriage to London's most infamous bachelor. Unfortunately, Kate quickly understands that her own heart may be at jeopardy.
Furthermore, on April 13, 2021, Netflix renewed Bridgerton for seasons 3 and 4, with executive producer Shonda Rhimes telling Vanity Fair that the series wants to follow all eight children, including young Hyacinth—when she's old enough.
The Season 2 ensemble also includes Adjoa Andoh (as Lady Danbury), Lorraine Ashbourne (Mrs. Varley), Harriet Cains (Philipa Featherington), Bessie Carter (Prudence Featherington), Shelley Conn (Mary Sharma), Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Basset), Ruth Gemmell (Violet Bridgerton), Florence Hunt (Hyacinth Bridgerton), Martins Imhangbe (Will Mondrich), Claudia Jessie (Eloise Bridgerton), Calam Lynch (Theo Sharpe), Luke Newton (Colin Bridgerton), Golda Rosheuvel (Queen Charlotte), Luke Thompson (Benedict Bridgerton), Will Tilston (Gregory Bridgerton), Polly Walker (Portia Featherington) and Rupert Young (Jack), whilst the great Julie Andrews provides the voice of Lady Whistledown.
