A 5.5 magnitude earthquake rocked the southern province of Adana today, sending shockwaves through the region. The Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) confirmed the seismic event, which occurred at 8:44 a.m. local time (5:44 a.m. GMT). The epicenter was located in the Kozan district, approximately 64 kilometers (40 miles) from the city of Adana, near the Syrian border.
