Stormzy dropped the second single, titled ‘Hide & Seek,’ off of his upcoming third album at midnight on Friday.
The South-London rapper released the song and accompanying music video two days after he announced his new project, which will be named ‘This Is What I Mean.’
The single has a chill vibe which sees Stormzy reflect on the relationship he has with a girl.
The melodic hook is sung by Oxlade:
“Oh, girl, you're shining,
You know you're my diamond,
You need reminding,
This moment of timing when your,
Soul needs aligning,
It's me you confide in,
Seeking and hiding,
You know where to find me, babe.”
The music video has almost 150,000 views on YouTube already.
The clip sees Stormzy spend time with a girl that he clearly has strong feelings for in a number of different relationship scenarios.
The artist raps about his feelings for the girl in the footage but it appears, despite the happy scenes interlaced throughout the video, that all is not well.
Those moments in time are replaced with scenes of the couple arguing, and eventually the lady leaving the artist’s car in an angry manner.
The artist raps, “How you gonna tell me that its never gonna work now.”
The clip ends with Stormzy performing alone in a room, possibly signifying that the relationship has now ended, and that he is reflecting upon the happy memories of the past.
The song possibly hints at the relationship that Stormzy had with his ex-girlfiriend.
After a long hiatus, Stormzy released the single ‘Mel Made Me Do It,’ last month and followed that up with a number of announcements on social media this week.
The only current Tweets on the artists’ Twitter account elude to the new album he is dropping in late November.
On Wednesday the English star released the cover art and tracklist (12 songs) that will feature on the new album.
He followed that up with a short video clip of him praying alongside his team members in the studio before they began work on finishing the album for the day.
Presumably, that footage was captured upon the east-coat of England island where the new album has been recorded.
Stormzy’s Tweet was accompanied by the news that “Hide & Seek,” was “out at midnight.”
The rapper did not disappoint his many fans and dropped the first single from “This Is What I Mean,’ today.
