2016 found footage supernatural horror movie 'Blair Witch' was made by Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett. It is the third installment in the Blair Witch saga and a direct sequel to the 1999 film The Blair Witch Project, omitting the events of its 2000 follow-up film Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2, as those were contained within a separate movie.

Lane and Talia upload the film to YouTube after discovering a DV tape with intriguing uncut footage in Burkittsville's Black Hills Forest. Then, when researching the Blair Witch tale, James finds the film and, certain that he saw his missing sister Heather, who vanished in the same woods in 1994, on it, he gathers a group of friends to help him in his quest for information. He enters the dark forest with his friend Peter, Ashley, the film student Lisa, the two uploaders, and himself since he believes she is still alive. However, they get lost in the middle of a green maze.
James and his team are increasingly convinced that the terrifying legend of the evil sorceress is true as they are imprisoned at the center of the evil activities. Can they avoid the diabolical Blair Witch's wrath?
