'The Boy,' directed by William Brent Bell and written by Stacey Menear, is a 2016 American horror film. Lauren Cohan and Rupert Evans feature in the picture. It is a joint venture between China and the United States. Filming began in Victoria, British Columbia, on March 10, 2015. The Boy was released in the United States on January 22 by STXfilms. On a $10 million budget, the film grossed $64 million worldwide. Brahms: The Boy II, a standalone sequel, was released on February 21, 2020.

Greta, a young American lady, takes a job as a nanny in a small English village and learns that the family's 8-year-old is a life-sized doll that the parents treat like a real kid as a means to cope with the death of their real son 20 years before. When she breaks a set of rigorous rules, her biggest nightmare comes true in the form of a series of horrific, unexplainable events, leading her to believe the doll is alive.
