Do you remember Grinch? Dr. Seuss’s fictional character who hated Christmas and everything to do with it?
Well, the show creators recently decided to take things a step higher by adapting the movie into a horror version starring David Howard Thornton as the green monster.
Due to copyright issues from the original book series, Grinch will not be referred to as ‘The Grinch’ but instead ‘The Mean One’. The movie is shot on a mountainous terrain of Newville, involving a greenish creature that intimidates the Newville neighborhood during holidays while in a Santa costume.
Another character, Cindy, returns to Newville twenty years later after witnessing the monster murder her parents to save the holidays and get revenge for their death.
Plenty of YouTube Channels recently revealed the official trailer for The Mean One, running for 1 minute and 48 seconds. The trailer perfectly aligns with the movie’s description of how Cindy’s parents were murdered, alongside her plot for revenge.
It proceeds with a glimpse of missing persons across the Newville neighborhood as Cindy wishes to investigate deeper into them. The Mean One has a lot in store for the fans this Christmas.
The Mean One is written by Flip and Finn Kolber, alongside Steven LaMorte as the film creator. Martine Melloul, LaMorte, and Amy Schumacher produce the movie from Kali Pictures, Amy Rose Productions, and Sleight of Hand Productions.
Yael Benamour is in the music department, Christopher Sheffield is in the cinematography, and Mathew Roscoe edited the show.
David Howard Thornton of Terrifier stars ‘The Mean One’ alongside Krystle Martin (Cindy You-Know-Who), Chase Mullins (Officer Burke), Saphina Chanadet (young Cindy), John Bigham (Doc), and Christopher Sanders (the narrator).
Other characters include Amy Schumacher (Mayor McBean), Flip Kobler (Lou), and Erik Baker (Sheriff Hooper).
The Mean One will debut on Friday, December 9th, in the United States exclusively on Atlas Film Distribution.
The film joins other children to horror film adaptations such as Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey and The Banana Splits movie.
