‘The Photographer: Murder in Pinamar’: Trailer, Release Date, Synopsis & More

When Netflix publishes the investigative Argentinian film ‘The Photographer: Murder in Pinamar’ (El fotógrafo y el cartero: el crimen de Cabezas) in May, true crime enthusiasts will have another documentary to dig their teeth into.

The plot revolves around Argentine photojournalist José Luis Cabezas, who was abducted, tortured, and murdered in 1997. Cabezas was last spotted at an elite beach resort frequented by the country's most prominent people. This crime not only rocked the country, but it also revealed a terrible political and financial scheme.

The documentary film is coming to Netflix on Thursday,  May 19, 2022.

The official trailer for the Argentinian documentary has been released on Netflix, however it is in Spanish with no English subtitles. They should probably release one with updated captions soon. If not, the documentary will almost certainly have English subtitles.

This horrific incident occurred in the late 1990s, shortly after Cabezas published an image of businessman Alfredo Yabrán, who supposedly had ties to corrupt government officials and notably refused to have his photo taken. The film investigates Cabezas' death as well as the underlying machinations of the time.

Along with co-writers Tatiana Mereuk and Gabriel Bobillo, Alejandro Hartmann directed, executive produced, and assisted in writing the documentary. Vanessa Ragone and Mariela Besuievsky are also executive producers on the Argentinian-made film.
