There has been an exciting development in the ancient city of Limyra, located in the Finike district of Antalya, where excavations are ongoing. The Temple of Zeus, known to exist since 1982 but never found, has been discovered after 43 years. The coordinator of the Limyra excavations, Associate Professor Kudret Sezgin, commented, 'From written sources, we clearly know that Zeus was the chief deity of the city during the Hellenistic and Roman Imperial periods. We knew there was a temple, but its location remained a mystery.'
