The Thing About Pam Sees NBC’s Series Premiere on March 9

NBC’s miniseries, The Thing About Pam starring Renée Zellweger in the lead role, premieres on Wednesday, March 9. It is a crime show narrating the story of Pam Hupp (Zellweger), a woman who was involved in the killing of her close friend Betsy Faria and possibly other people as well. The Thing About Pam is Zellweger’s debut role in a television series.

The series was slotted for production in May 2020 under the partnership between Blumhouse Television and NBC Studios. It was later given a six-episode order in February 2021, with Jenny Klein serving as the showrunner.

The Thing About Pam depicts the real-life crimes committed by Pam Hupp, including the 2011 murder of Betsy Faria, who was stabbed to death in her house in Missouri. Faria’s husband, Russ Faria was convicted of the murder but was later exonerated when evidence indicated that the mastermind was Faria’s colleague and best friend, Pam. Pam was later charged with the death of Louis Gumpenberger. Though based on true events, The Thing About Pam is a fictionalized version of the crime events.

Joining Zellweger as cast members include Katy Mixon as Betsy Faria, Josh Duhamel as Joel Schwartz, Judy Greer as Leah Askey, Gideon Adlon as Mariah Day, Sean Bridger as Mark Hupp, Glen Flesher as Russ Faria, Suanne Spoke as Janet and Mac Brandt as Det.

The first episode: 'She's a Good Friend', will premiere on Wednesday, March 8, episode 2: 'She's a Helper' on March 15, episode 3: 'She's a Star Witness' on March 22 and episode 4: 'She's a Loving Daughter' on March 29.
