Elon Musk has made history by becoming the first individual to amass a fortune of 700 billion dollars. Consequently, he has earned the title of 'the richest person on the planet', boasting a net worth three times greater than that of Google's co-founder, Larry Page.
Larry Page, who trails Musk as the second wealthiest individual, was the third biggest loser among the top ten richest people this month. Amidst the general declines in the S&P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq, shares of Alphabet, Google's parent company, suffered a 2% drop in value. This downturn stripped a respective 5 billion and 6 billion dollars from the fortunes of Page and his co-founder, Sergey Brin.
Larry Ellison, co-founder of Oracle and the third richest person in the world, experienced even greater losses without falling out of the top ten. Oracle's shares plunged by 3%, thereby reducing Ellison's fortune by 8 billion dollars to an estimated 245 billion dollars.
