Covering performance data from 2000 to 2025, this list highlights the top automotive names in durability and trustworthiness. The rankings were determined based on an analysis of over 300,000 cars, trucks, and SUVs sold between 2000 and 2025. Vehicles were evaluated across various factors, including user satisfaction, reliability ratings, road test results, and predicted reliability. They were also assessed for consumer-reported issues.
Toyota and its luxury sub-brand Lexus, long-standing leaders of the rankings, lost their crown. This year, Lexus ranked 2nd, and Toyota placed 3rd.
Based on survey data and analysis, six out of Subaru’s seven evaluated models scored at or significantly above the industry average. The only Subaru model that underperformed was the Solterra EV, co-developed with Toyota.
According to Steven Elek, Program Director of Vehicle Data Analytics, Subaru's top ranking can be attributed to its practice of using the same parts across multiple model years. Additionally, all Subaru models that received above-average scores in the survey were powered by internal combustion engines.
