The truth, however, surfaced in no time: 73-year-old Rogers discovered that he had won a whopping 1 million pounds (approximately 55 million TL).
Rogers, a father of three residing in Merthyr Tydfil, South Wales, is preparing to fulfill a long-standing dream following his substantial win. An avid boxing enthusiast, Rogers plans to use the money to watch a major boxing match at the renowned Madison Square Garden in New York.
'When the cashier scanned my ticket, I saw the message 'Contact Lotto Centre' on the screen. I thought it was a computer glitch, and even went to another shop to double-check. Even when I realized it was real, I couldn't believe I had won such a massive prize. It still feels like a dream.'
Expressing that providing a more suitable living environment for his ailing wife is his greatest joy, Rogers stated, 'Purchasing a house that will simplify our lives is the best thing money can buy. We will start house hunting as soon as possible.'
Peter Rogers, who managed to hit five main numbers and the bonus ball in the draw dated September 6, is also the author of a book recounting the boxing history of Merthyr Tydfil. Now, he is savoring what he calls 'the greatest victory of his life'.
