True Detective: Night Country is the fourth season of HBO’s anthology series. The show recently added a trio to its casting, consisting of Aka Niviâna, Joel D. Montgrand and Isabella Star Lablanc, alongside Kali Reis, Jodie Foster, John Hawkes, Christopher Eccleston, Finn Bennett, Fiona Shaw and Anna Lambe.
HBO confirmed the production of True Detective’s fourth season in June 2022, with Issa López helming the pilot episode and Barry Jenkins as the executive producer.
The show’s fourth season begins with the disappearance of six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station on a winter night in Ennis, Alaska.
Danvers and Navarro embark on the case and in the process, confront the dark past within them, digging up haunted truths.
Foster and López serve as the season's executive producers, together with Adele Romanski, Barry Jenkins and Mark Ceryak via Pastel and Mari Jo Winkler. Alan Page Arriaga also serves as an executive producer and writer.
Adding to the list of executive producers is Cary Joji Fukunaga, Woody Harrelson, Richard Brown, Chris Mundy, Nic Pizzolatto, Steve Golin and Matthew McConaughey.
The producers are Sam Breckman, Princess Daazhraii Johnson and Cathy Tagnak Rexford.
Lablanc plays Danvers’ stepdaughter Leah, a young lady striving to find her place in society. Niviâna plays Navarro’s sister, Julia, a woman going through issues of her dark past. Montgrand portrays Navarro's love interest Eddie Qavvik, a local musher with deep connections in Ennis.
Niviâna is an Inuk writer and climate activist from Greenland. She delved into poetry intending to spawn talks about indigenous community rights, colonialism and climate change. Niviâna now has acting to add to her impressive portfolio.
Lablanc is a theater sensation, actress and storyteller from Minnesota, who recently featured in Paramount Plus’ drama series Long Slow Exhale. In 2021, Lablanc was nominated for the Princess Grace Honoraria by the McCarter Theatre Center.
Montgrand is a Canadian actor best known for starring in the TV show Legends of Tomorrow. He appeared in the critically praised indie movie Beans (2020). He also joined the cast of Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender as Hakoda, chief of the Southern Water Tribe and father of Katara and Sokka.
