Before his election, Trump supported daylight saving time, but in his latest statement, he changed his stance. Trump announced that he would work to abolish daylight saving time.

Elon Musk, who will lead efforts to reduce government spending and increase efficiency under the Trump administration, had previously signaled support for ending daylight saving time.

Last month, Musk wrote in a post on X, “It seems people want to eliminate the annoying time changes.” Trump also shared a post on Truth Social, stating, 'Daylight saving time is problematic and very costly for our nation.'

The U.S. currently observes daylight saving time.

Clocks are set back one hour on November 3, and daylight saving time begins again on March 9. According to a survey of Americans, about 43% prefer standard time year-round, 32% favor permanent daylight saving time, and 25% want the current system to remain in place.
